From August 6 to 11, the IV International Summer Mediation School of the Central Asian Mediators Consortium took place. It was attended by over 100 mediators, representatives of government agencies, the judiciary, the academic community, and international experts from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Belarus, Germany, China, the USA, and Ukraine.

The school hosted various events: advanced training for mediators, Culture Days of 4 countries, an international conference on the Singapore and Hong Kong Conventions, a roundtable on the future of mediation, excursions, coastal recreation, a Gala dinner, and competitions.

Aydos Naurzaliev, an IPM (International Human Rights Center / International Protection Center) mediator from Atyrau, won the super-prize Apple iPad. Congratulations on the victory! We also express gratitude to the heads of the Astana and West Kazakhstan region branches and all IPM mediators who traveled from 6 cities to become active participants of the school.

On August 6, 2026, the International Conference "Cross-Border Mediation: Singapore and Hong Kong Conventions" was held.

The conference united themes of recognition and enforcement of cross-border mediation agreements, the experience of international mediation centers, and practical tools for regional mediators working with foreign parties. The objectives of the conference were:

• to analyze mechanisms for the recognition and enforcement of mediation agreements under the Singapore Convention and the Hong Kong Mediation Convention;
• to present national models of exequatur for cross-border mediation agreements in Central Asian and CIS countries;
• to study cases and standards of international mediation centers (Singapore, Hong Kong, CA region);
• to formulate recommendations for inclusion in the Issyk-Kul Declaration on Mediation regarding the cross-border dimension.

At the conference, speakers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Singapore, Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, and Austria delivered reports on the following topics:

• "State Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Field of Mediation: Legislative Reforms and International Cooperation";
• "The Role of Mediator Organizations in Signing and Ratifying International Conventions";
• "Current Trends in the Development of Mediation in Uzbekistan: Legislation, Judicial Practice, and Prospects for Cross-Border Mediation";
• "Overview of the Singapore Convention on Mediation" (Key provisions of the convention · conditions for recognition and enforcement of mediation agreements · reservations and restrictions for regional countries);
• "The Singapore Convention as a New Stage in the Development of International Negotiations and Mediation";
• "Institutional Infrastructure of the International Organization for Mediation and its Connection with the Singapore Convention";
• "The Hong Kong Convention: New Opportunities for Mediators in Resolving International Commercial Disputes";
• "Choosing a National Model for Exequatur of Cross-Border Mediation Agreements" (Comparative analysis of models for enforcing mediation agreements in regional countries);
• "Creation of a Professional International Mediation Center — The Singapore Experience" (Institutional experience of Singapore: development of a professional mediation center, standards, accreditation);
• "Cross-Border Mediation in Family Disputes. EU Experience";
• "Document Flow in Cross-Border Mediation."

• "Cross-Border Dialogue: Cross-Border Disputes and Recognition of Mediation Agreements." Overview of the Singapore and Hong Kong Conventions: key provisions, opportunities, and limitations for regional mediators. Prospects for regional cooperation. Trainer — Ozlem Bora (Turkey), Ondokuz Mayıs University faculty member, Head of the Department of Civil Procedure and Enforcement Law, mediator, lawyer, arbitrator.
• "Psychological Stability." Recovery practices. Working with anxiety and uncertainty. Group supervision "My Difficult Case." Trainer — Nuraiym Islamova (Kyrgyzstan). Mediator of the International Business Mediation Hub (IBMH), social psychologist.
• "Basics of Profiling for Mediators." Key principles, profiling tools, application practice. Trainer — Zhandilda Azhigalievich Zhakupov (Kazakhstan). Vice President of the TDAB Association of Mediators of the Turkic World; founder of the Eurasian Union of Mediators; co-chair of the Central Asian Mediators Consortium; president of the NGO "International Human Rights Center."
• "Personal Brand of a Mediator and Marketing." Trainer — Ainura Baratova (Kyrgyzstan), Head of the Promotion and Corporate Relations Department, International Business Mediation Hub (IBMH).
• "Intercultural Communication as a Key Factor in the Effectiveness of Cross-Border Mediation." Trainer — Shakhnoza Ganibaeva (Uzbekistan), PhD in Law, mediator, trainer at the Tashkent Mediation Center, associate professor at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

All participants of the Summer Mediation School received certificates upon completion, and active members received letters of appreciation.
