On may 2, an international online conference was held on the topic: Opportunities and prospects for mediation during the pandemic. The conference was attended by 40 lawyers and mediators from several countries.
Speakers were leading international mediators Ilana Laitman (Israel), Zhandilda Zhakupov (Kazakhstan), Ekaterina Gamzunova (Belarus), Olexander Bondarenko (Poland), Anastasia Moskalenko (Slovenia). They told how the pandemic has affected the field of mediation in their countries. So, they are all one way or another faced with the need to conduct mediation online. This format of interaction inevitably makes adjustments to the negotiation process, the text of the agreement on mediation, as well as to the process of signing the final mediation agreement. Some of the speakers noted an increase in requests for family and business disputes.
Head of the ICPR trainer-mediator Zhandilda Zhakupov spoke about the Kazakhstan model of offline and online mediation, the features of criminal and administrative mediation, the results of the work of ICPR mediators in 2019, the expected legislative changes in the field of mediation.
Such conferences, according to the organizer, allow you to quickly share the experience of different countries to improve the mediation procedure, as well as develop joint measures to inform about the possibilities of mediation.
Announcements of the next events will be posted on the official «Facebook» page of the MARA mediation union.
